What do the banners above have to do with your Web Presence?
They may not be familiar names but they are all software platforms on which some of the biggest names in business have built their web presence!
These platforms are also part of the tool set used by the DownRiver Group to create your web presence.

Do You Give A Tweet?

Tweeting For Web Presence

If you’re wondering, a tweet is one of the short posts allowed on the relatively new website, Twitter. What can that do for web presence?
You may have heard of Twitter, the latest, greatest social-networking site.
Twitter messages are limited to 140 characters – short enough to be displayed on a cellphone and is considered by some to be an “instant wire service”.
More expedient than blogging or creating an infomercial for Youtube and able to distribute a message to all of a Twitterers’ tweeple(people sign up to follow your twitter feed and can have it forwarded to their compatible phones ~they are your tweeple, or tweeps) this can be a serious platform for distributing important information.
Generally, people use the web for 1 of 3 purposes;
1)To access entertainment
2)To access information
3)To purchase items
Use Web Presence To Establish Your Market Sovereignty
If you access crucial market information and want to capture your customer/client base with the freshest, on-the-spot “intel”, Twitter can be a worthwhile and low cost method to reach out to an existing client and/or prospect base and engaging them with the availability & quality of your knowledge base.
Case in point; If any of you followed the most recent NFL draft, you may have gotten the choice of your team before it was announced on television(much to the chagrin of ESPN) from Twitter, with team personnel and sportswriters disclosing draft picks even if ESPN had cut to commercial. For data junkies, like draftniks, immediacy ~that immediate gratification~ is what they’re craving and Twitterers can provide the fix.

Another, even more practical, example of the getting ones’ “tweets worth” is the April ‘08′ arrest of UC Berkeley graduate journalism student James Karl Buck by Egyptian police as he was photographing a demonstration.
Able to tweet out one word, “ARRESTED”, as he was being taken into custody, followers from his network were able to called the university and the American Embassy.
They also alerted the Associated Press, the International Herald Tribune, and other media, which helped put the heat on the Egyptian authorities.

Your Web Presence, Moving Inventory & Tweeting
Do you sell a product? Have some kind of following? Need to drive a little revenue? Tweet for Dough! Tweet up a “special” and let your clients/customers know about it in real life. Tell them about twitter, run your special and watch for the returns. Congratulations, you’ve just used your web presence to drive some cash flow!
Have A Sale or New Product Promo? Tweet about upcoming specials and tell folk about your Twitter specials. Give ‘em some Sweet Tweets(remember where you heard the term 1st because it’s going to become quite popular)!
Your Personal Brand Of Fun And Web Presence
Are you the company brand? Does your business count on, at least in part, you engaging your clientele with an entertaining persona? Keep in contact, keep them laughing, keep your name at the top of their minds with your web presence via Twitter. If you do standup, share a fresh joke or set up your next routine with a few tweets.
Thoughts on a new song? Signed up for a big gig or have a new release coming? Let’s all sing like the birdies sing, “Tweet, tweet-tweet, tweet-tweeeeet”!
(some of you will definitely have to google the reference)
Of course, with the stampede of early adopters to this popular web2.0 network, you can find an awful lot of personal detail about which few will care. Some folk seem to think everyone wants to know the detail of that scrumptious tuna fish sandwich they had for lunch. Don’t let this be you!

Still, if you want to keep a customer base “in the loop” and engaged, the Twitter platform can be an extremely useful tool for such. It’s also a great tool for getting time-sensitive information spread across a network and can help you achieve those viral marketing moments most businesses crave.

The jury is still out on how Twitter would actually become a profitible business entity(it has not been so, thus far) but the usefulness of this maturing network is growing.
We’ll explore this in a little more detail in another post but consider that if you have a service or goods for which folks new to your geographic area(say, tourists, for instance) might search while “on the road”, it is growing ever-more likely that those prospects will use Twitter as a search utility(looking for specific keywords within the visited geographical area) to find you…

…if you give a tweet.
